6 Billion and One: A Single Voice Can Make A Difference
Two Face to Face Campaign Partners in the UK, Marie Stopes International and Population Concern, collaborated on an initiative to raise awareness among teenagers about population-related issues. The initiative, called "6 Billion and One: A Single Voice Can Make A Difference," was a national essay-writing competition targeted at young adults through the education system. The competition involved writing an original 250-300 word letter to Prime Minister Tony Blair stating the case of redoubling European commitment to ensuring basic reproductive rights and healthcare for all. Contest winners received an overseas trip to Kenya.
Former Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell, UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador and Face to Face Campaign Spokesperson for the United Kingdom, used her popularity among young adults to actively promote the essay contest.
