Face to Face Ballet
The ballet "Face to Face" is the creation of Swiss choreographer Etienne Frey and the SINOPIA Dance Company, with Swiss Campaign Partner International Foundation for Population and Development (IFPD) as the originating organization. The ballet depicts the status of women worldwide through dance and music, demonstrating that dance is one of the rare forms of universal human expression that knows no linguistic barriers.
"Face to Face" premiered at the Battement des Forces Motrices in Geneva, Switzerland on June 27, 2000 as the main cultural event of the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on the World Summit for Social Development. All proceeds from the ballet ticket sales went to an IFPD project in Mali. In countries where the Face to Face Campaign is engaged, fundraising ballet performances will be held, accompanied by workshops involving local dancers and the general public.
